How States Can Leverage Medicaid to Reduce Recidivism and Improve Health Outcomes
Upcoming Event
August 20, 2025, 1:00pm - 2:00pm, Eastern
Hosted by The Council of State Governments (CSG) Justice Center and CSG’s Midwestern Legislative Conference Committees on Health & Human Services and Corrections & Public Safety
As states face rising health care costs and evolving federal requirements, Medicaid is emerging as a key tool to support successful reentry for people after incarceration. This webinar will explore how states can use Medicaid to:
- Implement new Section 1115 reentry waivers to improve health and reduce recidivism
- Use Medicaid and justice system data to identify individuals who frequently cycle through jails, hospitals, and shelters—and find better ways to support them
- Use Medicaid to improve access to recidivism reduction services with youth involved in the justice system
This webinar is intended for legislators and state health and corrections leaders.
